Frequently Asked Questions

Please call us at 508-989-1209 or email capecodjetskirentals@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.  You can also use the chat function built into this website.

Massachusetts requires that anyone on a Jet Ski (PWC) must have a properly fitting life jacket and an attached safety lanyard.

  • Life Jackets: All PWC operators and passengers must wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved Type I, II, or III life jacket at all times.
  • Safety Lanyard: The operator must attach the engine cutoff switch lanyard to their person.

We provide the above USCG-required safety equipment, and we also provide our customers with safety whistles, a handheld marine radio, as well as dock lines, fenders, a plow anchor, and a sand anchor are also included.

Yes, we can provide goggles, X360 video packages, a soft-sided cooler, a dry bag, towels, and other items for an additional fee. Please call and inquire for more information.

Great question!  MA Law states that a person between the ages of 14 and 16 can operate a PWC as long as they have obtained their boater's license.  As an additional safety precaution, I require all operators of our Waverunner to be 21+.

Another great question! And the answer is, it depends on your age. As of April 1, 2026, a valid boater safety certificate is required for all operators, with staggered deadlines based on birthdate.

  • If you're born after Jan 1, 1989: Must have a certificate by April 1, 2026.
  • If you're born on or before Jan 1, 1989: Must have a certificate by April 1, 2028.

However, as an additional safety precaution, I require all operators of our WaveRunners to be 21+.

 Operational Restrictions

  • Daylight Only: PWC operation is strictly prohibited between sunset and sunrise, regardless of whether the vessel has navigation lights.
  • Minimum Water Size: PWCs may not be operated on any Massachusetts waters less than 75 acres in size.
  • Headway Speed: You must reduce speed to 6 MPH or less (headway speed) when within 150 feet of a swimmer, shoreline, moored vessel, or boat launch.
  • Bathing Beaches: Operation is completely prohibited within 150 feet of any public or private bathing beach.
  • Prohibited Maneuvers: It is illegal to:
    • Jump the wake of another vessel.
    • Weave through congested waterway traffic.
    • Tow a water-skier or any person behind a PWC. Mass.govMass.gov +5

Required Equipment

  • Life Jackets: All PWC operators and passengers must wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved Type I, II, or III life jacket at all times.
  • Safety Lanyard: The operator must attach the engine cutoff switch lanyard to their person.

Unfortunately poor weather, or our busy schedules get in the way of us having fun. If you need to cancel your reservation, your deposit will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 72 hours prior to your reservation time.  If the cancellation is made less than 72 hours from your scheduled departure, you will forfeit your deposit.

If for any reason Cape Cod Jet Ski needs to alter the schedule, you will receive a full refund.  In the extremely rare case where this may occur, you will be notified as soon as possible and also given the opportunity to reschedule.

Yes, of course.  It's always more fun to be on the water with friends, family, and loved ones!  If you're planning on making a reservation and want to bring a passenger, there is a $75 per passenger increase in the cost of the rental.  This cost will be added to the total when we meet for your booking.
